Gabriel Maiyo – Operations & Technical Director

Gabriel has more than 12 years experience in the clean tech sector.

He helped to set up a leading solar company in Kenya and knows intimately what value technology can bring to his society. Gabriel has achieved an MBA and his hobbies revolve around meditation and keeping healthy – often on the golf course (currently handicap 18 and always pushing it down!).

Joab Omondi – Finance Manager

Joab has over 12 years experience in general finance issues and has run the finance function of remote tourist camps in Kenya.

He’s wearing two hats at the moment – his role at ASOBO and being an MBA student. Joab really enjoys farming as a pastime and is currently trying his hands at growing dragon fruit! He’s also an avid football fan, supporting both GorMahia and Manchester United.

Wolfgang Gregor – Co-founder & Advisor

Wolfgang is an off-grid pioneer with deep understanding of the needs of the fisherfolks around Lake Victoria.

Formerly a Chief Sales Officer at Osram, he started replacing kerosene lanterns at the lake back in 2008. Wolfgang was co-founder and first Executive-Director of GOGLA. He originally studied nautical science, is a licensed master mariner and therefore has a great affinity with boats and water.

Carol Maina – Sales Officer

Carol comes with a broad background of customer facing experiences from Port Florence Hospital, to ICIPE and Faces. She loves socializing with people, which is one of the main reasons she enjoys her role at ASOBO so much.

Carol is very well versed with everything IT related, having studied it at KCA University and runs a side hustle crafting flower pots – which also adorn the ASOBO office!

Caleb Mutai – Sales Officer

With over seven years of experience, Caleb brings a lot of sales and promotion experience to the team. He is highly skilled at creating new relationships, always chasing more results and thereby helps to grow the business every day.

He is pursuing his bachelor’s degree in project planning and management and in his spare time loves to watch football, movies, the inside of books, and listen to gospel music.

Joshua Miruka – Captain

Joshua used to fish himself, but is now a boat owner. His two boats go out fishing almost every night.

He has a deep and very hands-on experience with the needs and dynamics around fishing on Lake Victoria. He also runs a business that trades in partly processed omena fish. In his spare time, Joshua loves to hang out with his family.

Dorothy Omollo – Operations and Credit officer

Having worked for one of the largest solar companies in Kenya and Uganda, Dorothy has over three years of experience in credit and finance management. Currently, she makes sure ASOBO’s customers pay on time, as well as supports the daily operations.

In her free time, Dorothy likes to spend time with her sons, taking long nature walks and reading novels and articles.

David Gonya – Operations Coordinator

David comes with a highly valuable mix of experience in distribution of life-enhancing products and having worked for one of the leading microfinance institutions in Kenya.

He has learnt excellent customer care and operations skills during six+ years of working for these organisations. When not taking care of ASOBO’s customers, David loves to play football or sing in the church choir.

Racquel Khwatenge – Operations Officer

Racquel has over three years of operations experience in the hospitality industry, having worked for several reputable hotels.

She is combining her work at ASOBO with pursuing an MBA in operations management. When not learning or working, Racquel absolutely loves mingling with friends, watching movies, listening to music, trying out new recipes and discovering new cultures and places.

Oscar Ominde – COO

Oscar is an innovative leader with 20 years of proven experience introducing renewable energy technology solutions in rural markets through teams.

Before joining ASOBO, Oscar served in various regional and global leadership positions at OSRAM, LEDVANCE and SISTEMA.BIO. He loves working with technology users and feeding their insights and expertise into developing products and solutions that add value to their businesses.

Godfrey Odhiambo – CEO

Godfrey has over 20 years of progressive experience in leadership roles, primarily in Renewable Energy and Financial Services sectors.

An innovative thinker, Godfrey has led startups to growth across Sub-Saharan Africa. He provides hands-on review of operational excellence and customer stickiness at scale, identifies opportunities to improve both revenue and profit, and implements the changes to achieve real results.

Outside of work, Godfrey mentors youth on how to be the best version of themselves. He is an audiophile who enjoys music to wind down.
